Title: Glasgow Railroad Station

What a wonderful part of history. Imagine what it would be like to revisit the Glasgow Railroad Station in it's day. The railroad ran from Glasgow to Glasgow Junction (Park City) to connect with the main line of the Louisville-Nashville rail line. The station is located on West Main St. And could be a wonderful source of economic and historic value for the County.

The station could be restored and converted into a restaurant and gift shop. The restaurant could serve food of the past and present. The gift shop could carry replicas of the old station and trains, as well as post cards and present day items.

As the station becomes self supporting a replica of the “Old 109” could be built and used as a Museum. For a nominal fee a person could visit the old days. Adults and children would be able to get an idea of what life was like in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

The railroad also had a stage coach that went from Glasgow to Burkesville. It would be fun to be able to take a stage coach ride from the station to the Square and back. I feel the tourist would really enjoy this, and it could be a big success. There isn't many places in the country that offer such a service.

If the Barren County Fiscal Court and the L&N railroad Co. would meet to talk this over it could be a win-win situation. Both parties would benefit financially, and a good portion of history would be preserved. This endeavor would be well worth looking into.
